About Me

Hello! My name is Heather Thomas and I am a dental hygienist, Assistant Clinical Professor in the Dental Hygiene department at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, and a part-time reporter for NAU-TV. I have a great zest for life and love working in the educational environment. I thrive on creativity and the growth that comes from open-mindedness, inclusion, and the integration of diverse peoples and cultures.

I believe kindness and humor are two of the most important elements that bind us together in our humanity. I love to learn and continually strive to make things interesting and pertinent for my students. I seek to perpetually grow from and contribute to the world around me, making every path I take better than when I first stepped foot there. I am a student of life, and we are all in this thing together!

Being Active!

I grew up playing many sports, but swimming was always my true love. I swam competitively for 15 years, including at my alma mater, Northern Arizona University. I also enjoy a variety of other activities including running, hiking, and almost anything outdoors.

The Arts

I believe in a life that is full not just academically, but culturally, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I love art, music, reading, writing, puzzles, games, poetry, and meditation...the stuff of life that feeds my soul. Click on the images to the right to view some of my artwork!
