"Ms. Hodgeson's website is very informative, professionally created with an eye to detail and has an element of human interest that makes it nice to navigate. In my work as a public affairs writer and a representative in several leadership organizations, I regularly visit and analyze websites, mostly for content, so I feel confident in endorsing Ms. Hodgson's website development skills. The humor and personal touch also add to the site's appeal."

"a. Ease in navigation (links, organized layout)

I found it very easy to navigate your website. The bar across the top and the drop downs helped me navigate anywhere in your site from any page. This is great! I had no fear of ‘missing’ something.  I did find myself wanting to hit an arrow or to scroll through your great quotes, art and humor – but the strip at the bottom helped me see where I was at all times.

b.      Visual appeal (font, colors, pictures, icons)

The site is clean and professional in appearance.  I find the colors soothing and almost lacking the luster I associate with your personality. I might consider adding a splash of color somewhere?

c.       Usefulness (are relevant items included? Is your bio-profile distinct?)

It is not completely clear what your purpose is. Are you trying to get a teaching job?

In the ABOUT ME section you say you like ‘making things interesting and pertinent’ [for my students] – this seems limiting to me, depending on your purpose; especially if you are trying to get a non-teaching job. I might suggest leaving off the ‘for my students’ part?

Also, I am not sure why you include the letter of application for a particular job – again, it depends on your purpose for the website.

Perhaps be clear about what your purpose is and then look at each component with that in mind. Consider how the site would read to your future employer AFTER you acquire a job?

d. Suggestions for improvement

Your first line…Live. Learn. Grow. Repeat….made me wonder if you believe in reincarnation? (ha!)

Dreamer-- can have a negative connotation, for example, being a dreamer as opposed to being a do-er?

What about idealist? Or visionary?

I was surprised not to see Problem-solver?

Consider substituting ‘substance’ or ‘matter’ for ‘stuff’ [ THE ARTS ]

Instead of ‘other interests’ I suggest ‘interests’*

"I found the site very easy to navigate. The tabs across the top were appropriately labeled to allow someone to find particular documents. The site was visually appealing, with attractive and effective use of colors, quotes that pertained to each section and good text balance throughout.  Items chosen for the portfolio were useful in providing an overall feel for your accomplishments. I really enjoyed how you included both professional and personal items in the portfolio. This made the portfolio engaging and added interest.  I actually have no suggestions. This was a thorough, creative and interesting portfolio. I would hire you based on this portfolio alone. Excellent."

"I found it easy to navigate through Heather's website.  Each link had a heading and each heading opened with ease.  Her page was neat and nicely laid out.  She used a color that was not distracting and all of her pages stayed consistant and looked uniform.  Heather used pictures appropriatley on her pages.  I liked her use of photos to show who had given her a professional endorsements.  I loved reading about Heather and about her occupation as a dental hygienist.  Heather used relevant items throughout her website and her biography profile was distinct.  I do not have any suggestions for improvement.  It was actually awesome to see some humor on her page with some inspiration!  Well done Heather!"
